Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Wednesday marked the day Chris has been waiting for since last summer... the release of the new Harry Potter movie. As always, we had to see it right away. My preparation to see the new release was nothing, his was to reread all the books in the series.

We went to the new Majestic Theatre in Brookfield, which has 3 (?) ultra screens. Another perk to the theatre was the option to purchase reserved seats. For $2.50 more per ticket, you could walk in 5 minutes before the movie started. FANTASTIC! We sat in "box seats" in the front row. You can even choose where in the box you'd like to sit if you purchase the tickets ahead of time at the theatre (online you don't have the same option).

Now, on to the movie.

I don't think it was the best Harry Potter film yet. It definitely hit on the major points in the book, but as to be expected, it left A LOT out. The movie was approximately 2.5 hours, but didn't seem that long. When wondering when the major event of the book would happen, I looked at my watch and 2 hours had already passed. (I'm being vague about the events, because I don't want to ruin it for those that haven't seen it yet!) So, needless to say they wrapped a LOT up in 3o minutes.

There were some characters in the book that were described so well, but in the movie, did not even show up. Likewise, I pictured some characters quite differently than they were portrayed in the movie.

I do have to say this is a must see for those Harry Potter fans out there, because you just can't wait until it comes out on video. If you could care less about how the characters are portrayed and are looking for a movie to watch in the theatre, skip this one.

On a movie related note... The Bourne Ultimatum will be arriving in theatres on August 3 - I can't wait!
