Irish Soda Bread

St. Paddy's Day is a good holiday. People dress in green, you can pretend you're Irish even when you're not, you can have a Shamrock Shake or a Shamrock cookie from Sentry. I always liked to imagine that I really did like Irish Soda Bread, but the truth is... true Irish Soda Bread is just gross. It tastes like baking soda. Hmmm, I wonder why. I like the brown bread you find in Ireland. In fact, I've never found anywhere else that measures up to Irish brown bread. But, I have now found two Irish Soda Bread recipes that I L-O-V-E, love!

My dad happened across a recipes from Sendik's Market. This one has dried cherries in it, extra yum! This was my only request (at this point) for Easter Brunch.

Check out the recipe!

Another new favorite Irish Soda Bread recipe comes from Kate, a gal I work with. Last year she brought in loaves upon loaves on St. Pat's Day. I was secretly hoping she'd bring some in this year and she did NOT disappoint. Heaven at the lunch table! I think she brought in 4 loaves and there was but a 1/2 a loaf left by the end of the day - and she doesn't get there until 10am!

If I can coax the recipe out of her, it will be mine... muhhhahhh haahhhhaaa.
