Wireless once again... temporarily

What a perk to visiting mom and dad... wireless internet on a laptop once again! YAHOO!

Last weekend, Chris and I headed to Chicago to take advantage of his winnings from a contest at work - a weekend stay at the Sutton Place Hotel and tickets to Blue Man Group. Both, excellent. This was my first experience with Blue Man and it was fantastic. Definitely a musical and theatrical experience. We had seats in row 4, so we were prime for the splash zone. It was kind of a fun experience, as we were in the midst of 6 full rows of a high school trip, with the annoying teacher/chaperone behind us. Noneless, it was a good time. Lots of paint and toilet paper!

The hotel was very nice with impeccable service. I'm kind of going at this backwards... sorry. We arrived Friday night after taking the train down. No headache with traffic or parking. We arrived at the hotel around 7:30, just in time to beat the city dinner rush. We ate at a Japanese restaurant, Tsunami, at the sushi bar. Tasty dinner of various sushi rolls. Yum. After a quick stop at Barnes and Noble, we arrived back at the hotel to find our bed turned down and chocolates and the next day's forecast on the bed for us. Talk about service.

Saturday was all about shopping. We hit the Corner Bakery for breakfast. Tasty, healthy breakfast of swiss oatmeal to start the day. We hit the pavement stopping first at Barney's New York just to see what all the buzz was about. Surprisingly, I found some Christmas gifts. We browsed our way down shops on Rush Street and then around the corner to Michigan Ave. It seems that Chris was on a quest for shoes. Nordstroms was definitely a stop for that. Unfortunately, we had no luck. We had a late lunch at McCormick and Schmick's for some tasty ceasar salads. Soon, nap time was calling.
We headed back to the hotel to rest up for our late night show at Blue Man. We met up with a college friend that we haven't seen in YEARS, probably five years. It was good to see John, he's all grown up now. We also met his girlfriend who seemed like a good find. Hopefully, we'll see them before another five years passes again. We had a casual dinner at a local joint of theirs, Kobi. Good vegetarian selection.

John and Kari were kind enough to drop us off at Blue Man. And the show was fantastic, as I mentioned above. We arrived back to the hotel around midnight or shortly thereafter. Rush Street and all its bars and clubs was hoppin'! It seemed more like 9pm instead. We had a 9:30am Megabus reservation to catch the next morning, so off to bed it was.

We grabbed a quick bite at Corner Bakery again for breakfast on Sunday and off to Union Station to catch the Megabus. If you are planning far enough ahead, Megabus is the way to go. We were back to Milwaukee by 11:00am all for $10.50. What a deal!

I love visiting Chicago. This was the weekend the lights on the Magnificent Mile went on, so things were bustling with holiday cheer and Christmas lights! I loved it.
