Pink or Blue? How about brown...

I like brown. It's neutral. I have a lot of brown in my wardrobe. It can go with pink, it can go with blue. So, there you have it, it's gender neutral. I bought something brown for the little one last week. I can't believe I bought it... again, making all of this baby stuff real... as if my rounding belly isn't enough. (Yes, I will post a picture soon.) It was a little winter snow suit thing. Not that vinyl type, but a cute little furry brown outfit with footies, mitties and a little hood. The best part? It's got little monkey ears and a monkey face on the hood, oh and turn it around, there's a tail. How cute is that! Size wise, this might be a perfect Halloween costume. I thought, if there's a little girl on the way, I can just add a little pink bow to the "hair" at the top of the hood. Either way, it's a keeper.

We made the trip to the doctor yesterday. It was the day for the "big" ultrasound. Why did I schedule the appointment for three o'clock in the afternoon? I thought it would be the slowest day possible. I thought about taking the whole afternoon off thinking that might speed things along, but then I thought otherwise, it would be even longer than sitting in school all afternoon. So, I pushed the envelope and didn't leave school until 2:45, almost late for my appointment. It was true to form that when you have some monumental baby something, everyone's got a story for you. In the 8 hours leading up to my appointment, I heard about 4 different babies that were identified as the wrong gender. In the two days leading up to the appointment, I had two people ask me if I was having twins. I'm not that big... really!

After we had the opportunity to see the kidneys of our little one, and then the jaw bone, 4 chambers of the heart, parts of the brain, little nose and mouth, arms, and legs (and boy, were they moving), Chris wondered if we could get a little soccer ball in there yet. Umm, no. I don't need anything else in there, thank you very much. We finally got to see the little boy parts. :) Yup, a little boy is on the way. I had a feeling that's what he was.

I have to say that the best reaction I got was from my Grandma Kelly. She literally squealed in delight. She had three daughters and only two granddaughters, so no little boys to be found. She was extremely thrilled to have a little boy on the way. She even had her eye on a little dump truck for the little guy, but waited to hear the news to buy anything. She told me she's going back tomorrow to get it. How cute.
