Random Stuff

If someone asked, I would have to say Friday is my favorite day of the week. Why? Because it is the last day of WORK for the week. I'm happy to report I only have 3 Fridays left of work before summer vacation. To make things even better, Friday #1, I have my personal day, so I don't even have to go to work. Friday #2, we're taking a field trip to the zoo. And Friday #3 is a half day - the LAST day of school, so that will be a piece of cake. Again, I can't say how much I love the perks of being a teacher - summers off!

Today marks the five week mark until Chris' Ironman debut. Wow.

Yesterday, it was soooo gorgeous. Blue skies, warm sun. I made it to the Farmer's Market in O-town and picked up some plants for my window boxes as well as some tomato plants. As seen in one of my previous posts, my favorite Farmer's Market pick is the little yellow tomatoes. I picked up 2 plants of my own so I can enjoy them at will. I also found some farm fresh eggs, spinach, salad mix, and rhubarb. I don't recall ever being a big fan of rhubarb. I think my grandparents used to have it in their backyard. I know Chris likes it, so I picked up a bunch and will cook it up later this morning in some tasty muffin tops.

The rest of yesterday brought mucho physical activity, a bike ride and run. Chris had 100 miles to do today so I joined him for a quarter of that and followed up with a 10 mile jaunt home from our parking spot. Longest ride to date in 2006, and I think my rides haven't reached the dozen mark yet. The head wind during the 2 mile climb did not make things fun, but thanks to Chris for letting me draft his wheel. On my last leg home, I had to go it alone into the headwind paired with a crosswind. Equally not as fun.

Last night, I topped it off with running Sarah's Stride. I've done this run that last I don't know how many years, 3 or 4. (Any Dashers want to join me in the future? Com'on back to Tosa!) "Sarah" was a student at my high school, so there's a little personal connection. It is also a fundraiser for the Wisconsin Donor Network. As my event t-shirt says: 50 People Can Benefit from One Organ and Tissue Donation. If you haven't signed the back of your driver's license, please do so. It's important.

The end.
